The Mughal road and Pir Panchal ranges have received fresh snowfall, which caused sudden drop in mercury. The Weather Department has already predicting widespread to heavy snowfall in the hilly area of Jammu and Kashmir and rainfall in plains for three days starting from Wednesday.
The higher reaches of Pir Panchal mountain ranges, including Mughal road, had received moderate snowfall on late Monday evening. “The traffic has been plying smoothly, despite moderate snowfall on the Mughal road,” a senior police officer said.
“We have already issued a weather advisory as the weather system is likely to cause temporary disruptions on surface transport,especially on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, in the coming days due to thunderstorms, heavy snowfall and rainfall,” Director, State Met Department,Sonam Lotus told The Tribune.
Due to western disturbance, the Weather Department has also predicted heavy snowfall in upper reaches of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
