Minister of State for Home Affairs GK Reddy on Wednesday informed Parliament that as per inputs, attempts are being made by Pakistan-based terrorists to reactivate their camp in Balakot and restart their jihadi indoctrination courses against India.
Reddy further assured that the Indian government was committed to taking steps to protect the country’s borders and maintain its integrity and sovereignty.On February 26, a fleet of Indian Air Force jets had bombed and destroyed terror launch pads at Balakot in Pakistan in a pre-dawn aerial attack."Inputs indicate that attempts are being made by Pakistan-based terror outfits to reactivate its camp at Balakot and restart their religious and Jihadi indoctrination courses against India," he said while replying to a written question.
The Balakot airstrikes were in response to a terror attackon a convoy of CRPF vehicles, which had claimed the lives of 40 jawans onFebruary 14, in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir.The MoS further underlined thatthe government has adopted a policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism. Hefurther assured that the action taken by the security forces are effective dueto which a large number of terrorists have been neutralised in Jammu andKashmir in the last few years.
Notably, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had in September saidthat the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror camp in Balakot has been reactivated.
"Balakot has been reactivated by Pakistan veryrecently. It had been damaged and destroyed. And that is why people have gotaway from there and now it has been reactivated. It shows some action had beentaken by Indian Air Force and now they have got the people back there,"General Rawat had told reporters at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai.
General Rawat had added that the latest developments inBalakot underlined that the IAF had destroyed the terror camp there.
Pakistan had, however, claimed that there was no terror campat Balakot. However, India had put forth technical evidence about the damagecaused there.
