The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Friday reiterated its support to the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), an amalgam of several mainstream political parties, seeking restoration of special status of erstwhile state of J&K.
This was stated by two Congress leaders, who participated in a meeting of the alliance at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti’s Fairview residence in Gupkar on Friday.
“We stand with the alliance. There is no disagreement between our party and the alliance members,” Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Monga told reporters after attending the meeting.
After the meeting, the PAGD leaders met again at National Conference headquarters ‘Nawa-i-Subah’ later in the day. “Congress has assured its support to the alliance. The party has assured that it will be part of the PAGD and also part of the DDC elections alliance,” NC provincial president, Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani said.
Today’s meeting was called to discuss the DDC elections and to finalise the list of candidates to contest in the rest of the eight-phased polls scheduled to commence from November 28.
