Jugal Kishore Sharma Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Jammu today raised voice in Lok Sabha and demanded to construct flood embankments at river Chenab in Akhnoor & Khour Sector.He said that river Chenab is very big flowing through Akhnoor & Khour Assembly Constituencies and many villages are situated on its bank.He said that during the flash floods in rainy season and after melting of snow the level of water in river Chenab rises it changes to destructive mode posing a great threat to Akhnoor, Gurgi Dhakki,Makyala,Chajwan, Devipur, Sangrampur,Chak Sikander, Gair,Bakore and many adjoining villages.Many of irrigated land already washed away and now the situation had arised that water is on the edge of the houses and they also on a red mark & likely to get washed when water level again rises. He said that this rise in water level in river Chenab is posing a great threat to the life and property and we have to take necessary measures at the earnest to save lives and property of the people.
Jugal Kishore Sharma also informed the house that a DPR tuned to rupees 55 crores has been prepared to construct the flood embankments and sent to the Ministry for further approval.
Member of Parliament urged Ministry of Jal Shakti to release the funds at the earliest so that these flood embankments can be constructed on the bank of river Chenab so that the life and property of the many villages can be saved.
