With no hangman in Tihar, where the death row convicts in the Nirbhaya rape-and-murder case are lodged, the jail authorities have approached other prisons in the country to provide them with a hangman, sources said on December 8.
They said informal talks are under way with Uttar Pradesh prison authorities.
There has been extraordinary delay in execution of four convicts and people from Various walks of life in India have blamed that the delay has given a wrong message to the society. One of the convict Vinay Sharma withdrew his Mercy petition to the President alleging that it was sent without his consent. The Home Ministry had recommended that he should be hanged.
