Former Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari is all set to launch a new political party in the valley within a week’s time.
However, it is worth mentioning that the new political party is being formed at a time when political activities have come to a grinding halt in Jammu and Kashmir following abrogation of Article 370 and 35A and bifurcation of the state on August 5, 2019.
“ I am lunching a new political party in Kashmir valley with my other political colleagues very soon” Mr Bukhari said.He said the be formed on regional basis and its launching function will take place in Srinagar very soon.
He said a meeting was held in this connection in which unanimous decision was taken by all members to launch the new political partyin Jammu and Kashmir very soon.
When asked about the name of his new political party, Mr Bukhari smiled and refused to divulge the name of his newpolitical party saying all media persons would be invited for the functionduring which the name of the party will be announced.
He said this would be a regional party in Jammu and Kashmir and its headquarters would be set up in both the regions –Srinagar and Jammu respectively.
Mr Bukhari said that the launching function of the party would be held within a weeks time or in next ten days in Srinagar.
According to sources the meeting was held in Jammu on Wednesday in the residence of Chairman of Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) GhulamHassan Mir in which Mr Bukhari and his other political allies participated.
They said a final decision was taken to launch a new political party during the meeting. The sources said the proposed meeting of MrBukhari with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah was alsodiscussed threadbare.
Mr Bukhari said that a six member coordination group hasbeen formed to draft out the constitution of the party. They will also chalkout the name of the party and its flag, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mr Bukhari on January 7along with his other political leaders held a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir LtGovernor Girish Chandra Murmu at Raj Bhawan Jammu and presented him a 15 pointmemorandum. The memorandum submitted to the Lt Governor was also published inthe newspapers of the valley next day.
The rumors of launching of the new party by Mr Bukhari inKashmir valley took hype simultaneously with the visit of foreign delegationAmbassadors on January 9 after meeting with them. However, the spokesperson ofMr Bukhari had rebutted the report of launching a new political party in Jammuand Kashmir.
