In view of prevailing situation and as a precautionary measure authorities have decided to close educational institutions in various parts of Kashmir valley on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019.
Srinagar: Classwork shall remain suspended in Amar Singh College and Womens College Srinagar on (Wednesday) 15th, May 2019.
Ganderbal: Classwork shall remain suspended in Government Degree College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Ganderbal on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019.
Baramulla: Classwork shall remain suspended in Government Degree College Boys and Women Baramulla, Government Higher Secondary School Boys and Girls Baramulla, all the educational institutions falling within the jurisdiction of Tehsil pattan and Tehsil singpora on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019 as a precautionary measure: DM Baramulla
Pulwama: Classwork shall remain suspended in IUST Awantipora, Government Degree College Boys and Woman Pulwama, Government Degree College Pampore and Tral, Government Boys and Girls Higher Secondary School Pulwama, Pampore and Kakapora and in all Coaching Centres of district Pulwama on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019.
However, rest of the Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools will function normally.
Bandipora: All Government/Private Educational Institutions/Degree College of Sonawari tehsil shall remain closed on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019: District Magistrate
Sopore: Classwork shall remain suspended in Government Degree College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019.
However, rest of the Educational Institutions in Sopore town shall remain open for classwork: ADM Sopore
Kupwara: Classwork shall remain suspended in Government Higher Secondary School Boys Kupwara, Government Degree College Boys and Women Kupwara, Government Degree College Boys Handwara, Government Degree College Boys Sogam, Government Higher Secondary School Boys and Girls Handwara and Government Higher Secondary School Boys Langate on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019 as a precautionary measure: DM Kupwara
Anantnag: Classwork shall remain suspended in Government Degree College Boys and Women, Government Boys and Girls Higher Secondary School Anantnag on (Wednesday) 15th May, 2019.
Police has arrested 15 protesters on charges of damaging vehicles and causing inconvenience to the people travelling on the Srinagar-Baramulla national highway on Monday.
Around 11 protesters, 47 security personnel sustained injuries after a group of youth protesting against the rape of a minor girl at Bandipora resorted to intense stone pelting on police at Chenbal Pattan. Over fifty vehicles including two ambulances too were damaged in the incident.
“We have arrested 15 protesters so far whose action led to mayhem on the Srinagar-Baramulla national highway on Monday. Several other protesters identified for the violence will be arrested soon” said Abdul Qayoom, senior superintendent of police Baramulla. “No one will be allowed to disrupt the peace”.
Meanwhile, traffic movement on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway came to a grinding halt for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, after protesters at Chenbal, Mirgund and Hanjiveera area of Pattan staged protest against the rape incident.
The protestors did not allow civilian traffic movement for up to 2 pm. “I had to reach a Srinagar hospital to attend a patient. However, I was stranded on the road for more than three hours since morning,” said Amir Rashid, a passenger, travelling from Baramulla. “Vehicles belonging to security forces are allowed to move while civilian traffic movement has been halted”.
Police officials said that the traffic movement on the Srinagar-Baramulla national highway was restored after 2 pm.
Meanwhile, students of Boys and Girls Higher secondary school Boniyar staged protest against the rape incident. The protesting students marched through the main market and latter dispersed peacefully.
