A Divisional Bench of Chief Justice Geeta Mittal and Justice Bindal took serious cognizance of blocking of way of the Court complex by striking lawyers. The court issued showcase notice against 6 lawyers as to why Contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for blocking the way of the Lower Court.The lawyers of J&K High court went on indefinite strike on 1st November against the Government's decision to digest courts of the power to register Land and other documents and vest the same to Revenue authorities.
The High Court received report from the Principal District and session Judge that 4 striking Lawyers were involved in blocking the way of the Court. The main gate of the Court complex was closed resulting in confinement of staff and Judges inside the Court.The BAR after the assurance from Government yesterday are planning to call a general house meeting to take a call on ongoing strike.
