The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Jammu, today welcomed the decision of Jammu and Kashmir Government for upholding the imposition of property tax in Jammu.
In this regard, an urgent meeting was held at the Chamber House, presided over by Sh. Arun Gupta, President of CCI Jammu, and attended by office bearers of the Jammu Chamber.
In the meeting, Sh. Arun Gupta expressed sincere gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for demonstrating a profound commitment to the aspirations of the Jammu people by honoring the request made by the Jammu Chamber.
It is pertinent to highlight that the Jammu Chamber had called for suspension of the property tax and also called Jammu Bandh in this regard. The overwhelming support from the people of Jammu underscored the importance of this issue within the community.
Sh. Arun Gupta urged the government to initiate a comprehensive dialogue with all stakeholders concerning property tax. He emphasized the necessity of formulating a well-thought-out policy on property tax through extensive discussions with relevant parties. This approach, he believes, will contribute to the development and prosperity of the region.
Sh. Arun Gupta has also welcomed the decision of Lt. Governor to address the concerns of those impoverished individuals who have received erroneous and inflated electricity bills in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that there are numerous individuals who have fallen victim to these inaccuracies, causing undue hardship.
Sh. Arun Gupta appealed to the Lt. Governor to issue necessary directives to the Power Department to refrain from disconnecting power connections of any poor and needy residents. He stressed the critical importance of ensuring uninterrupted access to electricity for those most vulnerable in the society.
The Jammu Chamber President also urged the concerned Power Department to prioritize the rectification of false and inflated bills, urging them to expedite the resolution process to alleviate the burden on affected households.
Furthermore, he called upon the government to cease any harassment of citizens related to the implementation of pre-paid meters. Chamber totally oppose implementation of prepaid meter system.
Sh. Arun Gupta further request the government to provide uninterrupted Power supply to the Industrial units as the Industries at present are facing hardships and are going through tough time due to unscheduled power cuts
President CCI Sh. Arun Gupta urges the LG Government to come forward to resolve the other issues raised by Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Jammu as people of Jammu have full faith in Chamber of Commerce & Industry because it is the only elected body raising the issues pertaining to the people of Jammu.
