The central government has denied permission to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from participating in the C40 Climate Summit to beheld in Copenhagen, Denmark starting October 9.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) denied clearance to the Aam Aadmi Party chief but has not yet revealed the reason behind denying permission.
Kejriwal was supposed to take part in a session on car bonemission along with a keynote address. However, with the MEA denying Kejriwal's request, it has now become clear that he will not be participating in the summit from October 9 to 12.Before the denial, the Delhi chief minister was expected to engage with heads mayors of cities such as New York, London, LosAngeles and Berlin to discuss issues related to climate change. In fact,Kejriwal was also expected to present a set of initiatives taken by agovernment, including the odd-even scheme.
He was also expected to meet the mayors of Sydney,Johannesberg and Rotterdam for bilateral engagements.
