 Chinr Corps Commander Lt General B S Raju and all ranks on Tuesday paid homage to Gunner Bhupender who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on September 5 at Line of Control (LoC), a defence ministry spokesman said this afternoon.

Gunner Bhupender and two other soldiers were injured when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and resorted to indiscriminate and unprovoked shelling and firing in Naugam sector in the frontier district of Kupwara. Gunner later died in the 92 Base Hospital here.

Spokesman said Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to Gunner Bhupender, gallant warrior who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty at Naugam. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Floral tributes were paid to martyr by Lt Gen Raju and senior officers from different security agencies. The mortal remains of Gunner will be sent to his native place, where last rites will be performed with full military honours.

Meanwhile, Northern Army commander Lt Gen YK Joshi on Sunday salute the supreme sacrifice of gunner Bhupener.
