GA Mir AICC General Secretary, today filed nomination from 41-Dooru Assembly Constituency in South Kashmir in presence of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Th Manmohan Singh, Vijay Sharma Babbi, and others Senior leaders from both Congress and NC.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir said INDIA alliance will contest the assembly elections with a firm and strong agenda to keep BJP away from the victory in Jammu and Kashmir. Mir, who is the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, said that the BJP is frustrated due to the INDIA alliance. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been without representation for 11 years, suffering under the BJP's and central government's "torture." “The INDIA alliance has consistently demanded the restoration of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Mir highlighted that there were no elected representatives in Jammu and Kashmir, including Panches, Sarpanches, BDC, DDC, Municipality, and the assembly, until the Election Commission of India announced elections following Supreme Court directions. He expressed hope that the people will participate wholeheartedly in the elections, support the alliance's agenda, and elect good representatives to form a government next month. In response to BJP's criticism of the Congress-National Conference alliance, Mir reiterated that the BJP is frustrated due to the INDIA alliance's strong agenda to keep them away from victory. He affirmed that the alliance will fight the elections with a firm agenda and hoped for a decisive mandate from the people to address pending issues, including the restoration of statehood and powers.

Karra expressed strong criticism of the BJP, accusing the party of causing severe hardship to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that the region has been without proper representation for the past 11 years, which he attributes to the oppressive policies of both the BJP and the central government. He emphasized that the INDIA alliance’s call for democratic reforms in the region stems from these grievances, asserting that the people deserve the right to elect their representatives and participate in governance.
Karra said that the INDIA alliance has disrupted the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) strategy in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the unity with the National Conference is not of any number and constituencies but of the motive and intention of ending the misery of the people here. "This unity is not just about numbers or constituencies, but about a shared intention to end the suffering of the people here once and for all," Karra said. Karra observed that the BJP plans seem to have been foiled by the INDIA alliance, evident in their visible unease. "The BJP appears tense and disorganized in Jammu and Kashmir, indicating that they are intimidated by this unity," Karra added. Karra expressed confidence that the National Conference-Congress alliance will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the BJP's fear of the alliance is evident, and their disarray is a testament to the alliance's strength.
JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla in his address said that the victory of Congress-NC alliance in the upcoming polls is the solution to every problem. He directed the party leaders and office bearers to continue with their awareness campaign against BJP’s “wrong policies and programmes”. “Congress will not allow anyone to barter the interests of J&K people for their own nefarious interests,” he said. “Our workers are the backbone of the party and all efforts should be made to involve the youth in evolving ways to strengthen the party and also reach out to the people who are facing the worst possible era of misgovernance and political instability due to the opportunistic government at the helm in J&K,” he said.
Bhalla asserted that Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is “relentlessly fighting for the restoration of the fundamental rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”. The party firmly believes in upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring that every citizen enjoys the freedoms and liberties enshrined in the Constitution, he said.The JKPCC leader added, “The struggle for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is not a short-term battle; it is a long-term commitment. Congress has all along strived for strengthening democracy at all the levels to have optimum participation of people in decision making and shaping their own destiny.”Bhalla called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to stand strong and united and join hands with Congress-NC alliance in its mission. “Together, we can pave the way for a brighter future, where democracy prevails and fundamental rights are upheld,” he added.
