India on Wednesday (April 12) recorded 7,830 new Covid-19 cases, a sharp jump in the tally as compared to the previous day. On Tuesday, 5,676 cases were reported. According to the health ministry data, the active infections stand at 40,215.
A total of 44,20, 4771 people recovered with the rate rising to 98.74 percent. According to the data, the total number of tests done on Monday was 2,14,242.
Also, 16 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death tally to 53,10,16 deaths. The fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent.
According to the ministry's data, 2,20,66,24,326 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered so far under the nationwide inoculation drive, and 441 injections were administered in a single day.
