The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of State Taxes for Samba, under the supervision of Commissioner P.K. Bhat and Additional Commissioner Namarta Sharma, has successfully imposed a total penalty of ₹1.23 crore with effect from 1st of April, 2024 as part of ongoing efforts to streamline tax operations and enforce compliance across the region. This strategic role allocation, which also includes the additional charge of Udhampur, aims to enhance efficiency and ensure seamless coordination between the districts under the purview of the State Taxes Department.
In the Rajouri-Poonch Range, the State Taxes Department has verified a total of 167,000 e-way bills, leading to the imposition of penalties amounting to ₹47,41,737 from April 2024 to August 18, 2024. These efforts reflect the department's dedication to curbing tax evasion and ensuring adherence to GST regulations.
In Udhampur, under the additional charge of the DC State Taxes Samba, a total of 1,46,255 e-way bills have been verified during the same period. The rigorous enforcement of tax laws in Udhampur has resulted in the collection of penalties amounting to ₹76,77,660.
State Tax Officers (STOs) posted in Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, and Udhampur have been assigned duties as per the roster to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This structured approach, guided by the Commissioner and Additional Commissioner, has significantly contributed to the department’s ability to maintain order and uphold tax laws effectively.
The State Taxes Department, under the vigilant supervision of Commissioner P.K. Bhat and Additional Commissioner Namarta Sharma, remains committed to intensifying its efforts across the Jammu division to maintain fiscal discipline and uphold the integrity of the tax system.
