 Gaurav Gupta, former General Secretary of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu, has called for the declaration of a public holiday on January 22, 2024, in honor of the historic Ram Temple Consecration Ceremony in Ayodhya, marking a momentous occasion for the people of the country after nearly 500 years. Recognizing the cultural and religious significance of this auspicious occasion, he emphasized the importance of allowing residents to partake in the celebrations without any hindrances.

In a statement issued here today, Gaurav urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to consider the sentiments of the people and declare January 22 as a public holiday throughout Jammu and Kashmir UnionTerritory. This gesture, he believed, would not only acknowledge the historical nature of the event but also allow citizens to participate in the festivities with devotion and joy.

Pertinent to mention here that Gaurav Gupta has also sent a representation to the Raj Bhawan in this regard.

Gaurav Gupta further appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned authorities to facilitate the closure of meat and wine shops across Jammu and Kashmir on the aforementioned date besides declaring 22 Jan as a dry day. He mentioned that already several states have declared a dry day on  January 22. This step aims. to allow the residents to celebrate and participate in the festivities without any cultural or religious inhibitions,he added.

Furthermore, he implored Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to instruct the Jammu Power Development Corporation to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the region on January 22. This directive seeks to enhance the overall experience of the auspicious day, ensuring that residents can partake in the celebrations without any disruptions.

The former General Secretary emphasized the need for a harmonious and inclusive celebration, urging the administration to consider these recommendations to respect the sentiments of general public.
