Two days White Water Rafting Festival in Chenab river started on Friday at Premnagar Thathri area of Doda district in which 300 participants are taking part.
Officials told news agency that among the 300 participants are MBBS students of GMC Doda, government officials and locals.
The event has been organized by the District Administration Doda along with Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA). Rafting experts from JK Adventurers conducted smooth and safe rafting for the first day, officials said.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Doda Dr Sagar Doiphode said: "This event is aimed promote tourism and involve more youth in sports activities like rafting."
Talking exclusively to KNO, SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar said: "Everyone who is coming here is excited and mostly everyone feels Chenab is dangerous for rafting but after following safety precautions and respecting nature, I don't think Chenab river is dangerous for rafting and other adventure sports activities."
"Administration can organise these events for two-three days but we will talk to the higher ups to recognise this place for permanent rafting, so that locals get employment here," he added.
