A day after chopper service resumed from Katra to Sanjhi Chat for Vaishno Devi pilgrims after almost five months period suspended due to COVID pandemic, on Thursday was hit because of dense fog in the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The chopper service was suspended on March 18 when the pilgrimage was stopped due to lockdown in view of Corona Virus pandemic.The service was resumed on Wednesday with all SOPs and guidelines in place.
"Due to rains and dense fog, the chopper service was suspended on Thursday," an official here said.
He however, said that rains have lashed the Trikuta Hills on Wednesday it affected the chopper service.
Two sorties of Himalayan Helicorp on Wednesday ferried pilgrims to Sanjhi Chhat.
The pilgrims were also provided PPE kits before they board the chopper.
The helicopter service provider have also made wearing of kits mandatory for its staff at the helipad.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has also put cap on number of pilgrims traveling through Chopper to Bhawan.
The pilgrims only have advance online helicopter booking will be allowed to avail the facility.
Presently, 200 to 300 pilgrims are daily visiting to the cave shrine.
Meanwhile negative COVID test report has also been made mandatory for the pilgrims which should not be older than 48 hours.
