An avalanche warning has been issued during the next 24 hours in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, where a fresh spell of snow is predicted under the influence of Western Disturbance (WD) which hit the region on Monday.
An official said that medium danger avalanche warning has been issued for higher reaches of Poonch, Kishtwar in Jammu; Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal in Kashmir. “A low level avalanche warning has been issued for the upper reaches of Ramban in Jammu; Anantnag, Kulgam and Baramulla in Kashmir,” he added.
A Met department spokesperson said that light to moderate rain and snow would occur at most places in Kashmir valley on Monday under the influence of a WD, which originated from the Arabian Sea and approached the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“Moderate to heavy rain and snow would occur across the valley on Tuesday and Wednesday,” he said adding the weather is expected to improve late this week.
