Stress for implementation of J&K Official Language Act, development of Religious Tourism Circuit & establishment of educational institutions by Shrine Board, enhancement of Central Package Incentives


Jammu: Gaurav Gupta, Former General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, met with the Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, to submit a memorandum addressing several urgent issues and requests crucial for the region's development.During the meeting, Gaurav Gupta expressed his appreciation for the remarkable progress Jammu & Kashmir has achieved under LG Sinha's leadership.
He highlighted the significant strides in infrastructure, governance, and public welfare, attributing these advancements to the visionary approach of the Lieutenant Governor.Gaurav urged the immediate implementation of the J&K Official Language Act, 2020, which mandates the issuance of official orders in Hindi, Dogri, English, Kashmiri, and Urdu. He mentioned that this Act has been passed four years ago in the Parliament in 2020 but till date no notification has been issued till date. He emphasized the importance of linguistic inclusivity and requested the prompt release of the corresponding notification, especially in light of the upcoming Assembly polls.
Gaurav Gupta advocated for the creation of a comprehensive religious tourism circuit by the Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, encompassing sites like Mantalai, Sudhmahdev, Shiv Khori and other religious shrines close to Reasi district. He suggested the introduction of free bus services for pilgrims and the development of huts under the PPP mode in hilly areas to promote tourism and generate economic growth in the Jammu region.
He proposed that the Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board should expand its mandate to include the establishment of educational institutions, such as an Engineering College, within the Union Territory. Drawing a parallel to the Tirupati Balaji Trust, he stressed the need for quality higher education to retain local talent and foster regional development.Highlighting the significance of the Central Package Incentives of Rs 28,400 crore introduced by the Central Government, Gaurav laid stress upon the extension of the incentives window until the original deadline of September 30, 2024.  He urged LG Sinha to enhance this package in view of the growing demand from local traders.
This action will not only uphold the government's promise of support to the local business community but also contribute to their sustainable development and overall economic, he added.Gaurav Gupta expressed confidence in the Lieutenant Governor's ability to address these pressing issues and contribute to the overall progress of Jammu & Kashmir. He reiterated the importance of prompt action to ensure the welfare of the people and the sustained growth of the region.
The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, gave a patient hearing to issues putforth by Gaurav Gupta and acknowledged the significance of the issues raised.
