As India enters the era of coalition government and BJP-led NDA prepares to form government on Saturday (June 8) after winning 293 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, speculation remain rife over what ministries will be demanded by the allies and how ministers are planning to get benefit from this alliance. 
As the new government will be formed, Narendra Modi will take oath as India's Prime Minister for a historic third consecutive term

Here are the top updates on politics revolving around India's government formation: 
1) According to the sources, JD(U) has made some huge demands as its leader Nitish Kumar has emerged as a kingmaker. Kumar has demanded not only Railways and Finance Ministry but also Agriculture Ministry, according to the sources. Nitish is likely to remain in the capital till oath ceremony.

2) Amid speculation of allies changing their sides, Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar gave written support to Modi. Naidu's TDP clinched victory on 16 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh and Nitish Kumar's JDU won 12 seats in Bihar.

3) According to the reports, Nitish Kumar is likely to hold meeting with all JD(U) MPs at 11 am local time. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan is also likely to meet his party's MPs at his residence. For BJP, its crucial allies apart from Nitish and Naidu are Chirag Paswan, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Janata Dal (Secular) HD Kumaraswamy and Rashtriya Lok Dal's Jayant Chaudhary. 

4) US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is set to visit India and interact with Narendra Modi's new government, said The White House. "President Joseph R Biden Jr spoke today with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India to congratulate him and the National Democratic Alliance on their historic victory in India's general election," the White House stated.

5) According to the sources, TDP is also likely to make tall demands. The party may seek Lok Sabha Speaker’s post, the ministries of Road Transport, Rural Development, Health, Housing & Urban Affairs, Agriculture, Jal Shakti, IT & Comms, Education, Finance (MoS) as well as five to six cabinet ministers and MoS.
