Indian Army organised a series of events to sensitise the youth and local populace on “Drug Menace”. The event was spread over six days from 09 May to 14 May 19 in Poonch district.

Lectures, poster making competition and distribution of leaflets were organised in various schools of Surankote town, Mendhar and Lower Krishna Ghati (LKG), which included Senior Secondary School, Surankote, Universal Higher Secondary School, Daraba, Govt Higher Secondary School, Marhot, Govt Degree College Mendhar and Govt High School, Kuniyan.

A massive ‘Anti-Drug March’ was also organised in Surankote town with over 350 students, teachers, Principals and locals participating. The campaign ended with a lecture by Dr Abhishek Chauhan, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, Government Medical College, Jammu and the Block Medical Officer Surankote, Dr Zulfikar on 14 May 2019.

The efforts of Indian Army drew a positive response from the local populace and saw enthusiastic participation by the youth. The locals have appreciated the Army for their efforts in sensitising the youth on drug menace.
