The Indian Army has laid the foundation stone of the tallest 'Iconic National Flag' at the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. The flag will be on a 100 feet-high pole, the highest Tricolour in the Valley.

"The Indian Army in collaboration with the Solar Industry India will install the 'Iconic National Flag' at Gulmarg which would be 100-foot high," an official told news agency PTI.

He also said the foundation stone for the iconic national flag was laid by Dagger Division General Officer Commanding (GoC) Major General Virendra Vats along with Bollywood actor-producer Arbaaz Khan and actress Vidya Balan.

This iconic Indian national flag will be a first in many ways. The site is expected to become another tourist attraction, among the snow-clad mountains of Kashmir.

General Officer Commanding (GoC) 19 Infantry Division of Kashmir, Major General Virendra Vats told reporters, "An iconic 100 ft tall national flag will be installed in this place. This development is in sync with the large number of endeavours that have contributed to peace and stability in Kashmir."

"I believe that this national flag is more than just a flag. It represents the dreams, hopes and aspirations of more than 100 billion people across the globe. It will add to the glory and splendour of Gulmarg and we hope to witness a large number of tourists," Vats said.

Major General Virendra Vats hoped it would continue to inspire the nation.

"We hope to continue to inspire to serve this nation. I would like to thank our partner Solar Group for this patriotic endeavour. Thank Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Arbaz Khan who have chosen to grace this occasion," Vats said.
