 University of Jammu has made a huge climb in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2020 ranking by achieving the milestone of 52nd position among the universities which was 74th last year.
The results were announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on Thursday.
A core committee set up by MHRD considers 20 indicators and four key areas of university activities namely, teaching, research, international diversity and financial sustainability, which are the parameters for RUR World University Rankings also.
The university had volunteered to participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The process involved online submission of extensive data pertaining to different aspects of the university. This objective becomes all the more highlighted when institutions are constantly adjudged on the basis of excellence in teaching and learning, excellence in research and innovations and excellence in engagement, etc.
The data for the first four parameters was submitted by the institutions and verified by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), a body constituted by the HRD ministry last year to conduct annual surveys.
Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu expressed gratitude to the Chancellor and Advisor (S) for time to time guidance in matters pertaining to the University.
Besides, he expressed sincere thanks to all the members of University Council, University Syndicate and Academic Council.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed his happiness over the significant progress made by the University of Jammu by achieving a huge jump and this also reflects growing presence and outreach besides the university’s impetus on high quality research, publications and teaching.
Prof Dhar further said that achieving a jump of 22 in NIRF ranking inspite of the fact that the last few months have been very tiring for the Country in particular and the world in general because of an outbreak of pandemic.
He attributed this exemplary performance judged through the NIRF ranking to the efforts of the dedicated teaching, non-teaching staff and the zeal of scholars and students of the university. He said that the results of systematic improvement in the curriculum, investment in strengthening of research infrastructure and consistent efforts in improving the functioning of the university during the last 1-2 years have started bearing fruits.
He said that the University of Jammu is poised to achieve greater heights of excellence in the times to come. Prof Dhar also expressed appreciation to Director, DIQA and the entire staff for the credible work and contribution in this regard.
