The  reportof the eight policemen who were killed in the Kanpur encounter was released on Saturday and provided several gory details of how the henchmen of Vikas Dubey ambushed the policemen on Friday morning as the team approached the gangster's house to arrest him, leading to a late-night encounter.

Eight policemen lost their lives in a fierce gun-battle with Vikas Dubey, the history-sheeter in Uttar Pradesh, and his men at Bikru village in Kanpur.

As per the autopsy report, Vikas Dubey's men severed Billhaur Circle Officer (CO) Devendra Mishra's head with an axe. His toes were cut-off from his feet and his body was mutilated, the autopsy has revealed.

The autopsy report, said that a sub-inspector was sprayed with bullets and another constable suffered gunshots, possibly from an AK-47.

Vikas Dubey and his men allegedly snatched the guns from the police party and used them to kill the eight policemen.

The doctors who performed the autopsy on the policemen have said that constables Bablu, Rahul and Sultan died of bullet injuries fired from .315 bore weapon. Constable Jitendra Pal sustained bullet injuries fired from an AK-47.

The injuries, mainly on head and shoulders, have shocked the doctors. Kanpur IG Mohit Agarwal on Saturday said that the pattern of attack is normally adopted by Maoists
