Hours after Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist commander was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sopore area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, hundreds of people participated in his funeral violating the COVID-19 protocols and Centre’s advisories regarding the social distancing.
The slain terrorist has been identified as Sajad Nawab Dar.His guardians had given in writing to adhere to social distancing when the dead body was handed over to them after completing medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been ordered and an FIR under relevant sections against the persons who gathered at the funeral has been registered.
On late Tuesday night, the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Arampora area of Sopore in the north Kashmir district after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there.
The security forces conducted searches in the area and maintained a tight cordon during the night to stop the terrorists from fleeing when they fired upon the search party.
