A two-day debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address in the House was held in Parliament on June 24 and June 25. Many MPs made their maiden speeches in the Lok Sabha. However, Trinamool Congress's first-time MP Mahua Moitra stole the limelight with her fiery speech opposing the Motion of Thanks on June 25.

In her maiden speech in Parliament, Mahua Moitra took on the government point-by-point despite many interruptions from the ruling benches.

Mahua Moitra attacked the Narendra Modi-led government on a host of issues and declared that "all the signs of early fascism" were visible in the country today.

In her speech, Mahua Moitra said that she "humbly accepted the mandate" in favour of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), adding "dissent is all the more important" today.
