The Mughal Road will be thrown open for one-way traffic on Wednesday. The decision was taken after authorities from different departments conducted a joint inspection of the road and found it fit for vehicular movement.

An official said a high level team headed by Chief Engineer Mughal Road project has given its nod to open this road for the traffic.

The team, according to the officials, carried out a complete survey of the Mughal Road, which connects Bafliaz in Poonch with Shopian in Kashmir, before taking the final call.

“If weather permits, we will allow one-way traffic from Poonch to Shopian on Wednesday and from Shopian to Poonch the next day,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic, Rajouri-Poonch, Muhammad Rafiq Chowdhary.

Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Muhammad Saleem Malik, who was supervising the snow clearance operation on the road, from Shopian side, also confirmed about the opening of the road for traffic. The snow clearance operation was completed three days ago, from Poonch side.
