NSA Ajit Doval leaves for Kashmir to take stock of security situation after scrapping of Article 370
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has left for Jammu andKashmir to review the situation on the ground after the Modi government revokedArticle 370 which gave special status to the state. The government alsoproposed that the state be bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu andKashmir and Ladakh. Earlier, Doval attended the meeting of Cabinet Committee onSecurity (CCS) at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in the nationalcapital. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present at the meeting. Doval,in June, attended the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at PrimeMinister Narendra Modi’s residence in the national capital. Union Home MinisterAmit Shah was also present at the meeting.Earlier in June, he had chaired ahigh-level meeting to discuss issues concerning Kashmir, including theforthcoming Amarnath Yatra and pending Assembly election.
The meeting was attended by Vijay Kumar, Advisor to theJammu and Kashmir Governor, State Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Army ChiefGeneral Bipin Rawat, Director General of CRPF R R Bhatnagar and DirectorGeneral of Police Dilbag Singh, official said.
This was the first meeting of Doval on Kashmir afterassuming the charge of National Security Advisor for a second term on June 2.
