The national highway, connecting Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir valley, was through for traffic movement as there was no impact of Indian and China border clashes in Galwan valley on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh region.
Twenty soldiers, including a Commanding Officer (CO) were martyred and several others are missing after the clashes on June 15 and 16.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalil Poswal Ganderbal in a tweet said that there are no restrictions on the movement of traffic on the Srinagar-Leh national highway. However, he said only Covid-19 protocol for Inter – UT movement is essentially required to be adopted,” he further tweeted.
A traffic police spokesman said subject to clear weather and road condition, only vehicles carrying essential commodities shall be allowed to ply on the highway on Wednesday. No passenger vehicle will be allowed to ply on the highway, he said.
Earlier some rumours said that the civilian traffic movement was not being allowed on the highway from Gagangeer area of Sonamarg in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal to Ladakh region.
