Pakistan’s coach Mickey Arthur admitted that he wasdisappointed with India’s approach towards the game against the hosts in animportant clash at Edgbaston. India’s win could have raised Pakistan’s chancesof qualifying for the semi-finals; however, their hopes were shattered as theMen in Blue faced their first defeat in the tournament by 31 runs.

Several questions were raised on the lower batsmen of theIndian cricket team for their lack of positive intent in the game. The teamwere unable to gain momentum from the very start of the innings by losing anearly wicket and their inability to register decent runs in the first 10 oversof the game. The bowling department suffered as well as India failed to getearly breakthrough against the English openers.

Pakistan’s coach however said that, “How they played, againthat’s the issue which we can’t control.” He added that he was following thegame intently and was disappointed that India didn’t get up against the hosts becausethat would have opened the door for Pakistan.

He also mentioned that now all they want is to get to Fridaywith a real opportunity and have the destiny in their own hands. He said, “Ijust hope New Zealand get it done for us.”

England will encounter the Black Caps tomorrow i.e. 3rd Julyat Riverside Ground whilst Pakistan will face Bangladesh on Friday, 5th July atLord’s cricket ground.
