Srinagar police along with Executive Magistrates, CAPD, Legal Metrology and other concerned departments conducted market checking in Nowhatta, Gojwara, Lal Chowk and other markets of the city.
The aim of the market checking was to ensure that good qualities of items are put on sale, besides, to curb black marketing & profiteering of essential commodities.
During market checking, erring shopkeepers and vendors were fined on spot by the Executive Magistrates and other concerned departments. Rotten vegetables and fruits were destroyed on the spot.
Police urged shopkeepers not to violate the rules and display the rate lists at their respective shops.```
