Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu  along with sleuths of Police Station Bagh eBahu  achieved a major success by recovering huge quantity of Poppy Straw which was being illegally smuggled ina  truck bearing registration  number PB-13BE/0768 at National Highway under the jurisdiction of Police Station  Baghe Bahu of district Jammu this evening.

The accused driver and conductor of the truck who were smuggling the contraband in the truck has been identified as Nitesh Kumar s/oMP Morya.R/o govind garh Ludhiana ( Driver).and Parmod Kumar s/o Ram masre r/oTandare Ludhiana.

Reports revealed that, a special naka was laid jointly be SOG Jammu led by Insp Sudhir Sharma and sleuths of PS Bagh e Bahu by SHO Insp Sunil Sharma at National Highway and checking / frisking was intensified. During the process of checking, onetruck bearing number PB-23 J5843 was intercepted and put to thorough checking.During search of the truck which was loaded with Gypsum a total of 185kilograms of Poppy Straw which was concealed in the specially made cavity insidethe truck  was recovered.

In this regard a case FIR No. FIR no 31/2020 u/s 8/15 NDPSact stands registered at PS  Channi Himmat  and investigation taken up.

The whole operation was closely monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sandeep Mehta-KPS and supervisedby SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil- IPS.
