A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan was injured in a grenade attack by militants in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.

 

Official sources said that militants lobbed a grenade at security forces at Watergam in Sopore on Thursday evening. “A SSB jawan was injured in the attack,” they said, adding the wounded was rushed to a local hospital.

 

They said the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness. “Additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to trace the attackers,” they added.

 

This is the second grenade attack on security forces since Wednesday in Kashmir valley. A CRPF jawan, who was injured in a grenade attack in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal on Wednesday, succumbed in a hospital in Srinagar on Thursday. Two more jawans were injured in the attack.
