Secretary Cooperatives Visits Anantnag, Takes Assessment of erstwhile JAKFED Property and Inspects Super Bazar

Secretary to the Government, Cooperatives Department Yasha Mudgal accompanied by Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K, Shafqat Iqbal and other senior functionaries of the department today paid visit to Ashijipora area of Anantnag district where she took onspot assessment of the property of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (JAKFED).

Secretary also took a detailed review of various aspects associated with erstwhile JAKFED during which she was briefed by the Registrar about it's current status.

Meanwhile, Yasha Mudgal also undertook inspection of Super Bazar Anantnag and got a first hand appraisal of several activities associated with it. She was apprised that about 50 functional Cooperative societies under different nomenclatures are registered that are providing a range of products . The Secretary applauded the concerned stakeholders over the performance. The Secretary directed them to make the store accessible to the general public, to keep the store open as per the market timings and ensure that quality products are supplied through it. She also directed to formulate a proper roaster in view of COVID-19 pandemic.

Later, the Secretary chaired a meeting with the concerned officers at Dak Bungalow Khanabal Anantnag wherein a comprehensive discussion on various related matters was held.

After taking a thorough review, the Secretary emphasized for reviving and redefining the role of Cooperatives towards the socio-economic welfare of the society. She said that need of the hour is to strengthen Cooperative societies adding that several livelihood opportunities can be explored if various Stakeholders are taken on board. She also added that Cooperative movement offers opportunities to our educated youth who can perform productively in newer gainful commercial areas.

Yasha Mudgal also emphasized to focus on the fields of diary, poultry and other potential areas and put in every effort in making a viable and vibrant Cooperative movement in the district.

SSP Anantnag, ADC, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, General Manager Super Bazar Anantnag among other concerned functionaries were also present.
