Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday alleged that some senior journalists have been parachuted in Srinagar to tell the nation how normal everything is on the first anniversary of scrapping special status of J&K.
Reacting to foiling of All Party Meeting called by National Conference (NC) on the first anniversary of scrapping of special status of J&K, Mr Abdullah said, “I suppose in a sense they are correct because this IS the new normal for new Kashmir.”
“Not to worry Tarigami Sb some senior journalists have been parachuted in to Srinagar to tell the nation how normal everything is. I suppose in a sense they are correct because this IS the new normal for new Kashmir,” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Mr Abdullah was responding to a tweet by senior CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, which read, “Locks on gates, lock downs as celebrations and lies as defences has been the hallmark of last year. Today, political leaders were supposed to meet at Dr Farooq Abdullah's residence to discuss the political challenges region is facing. But unfortunately, we were not allowed.”
Police on Wednesday foiled an All Party Meeting called by National Conference (NC) in this summer capital on the first anniversary of scrapping of Article 370 and 35 A, besides dividing J&K into two Union Territories (UTs). All roads leading to NC president Farooq Abdullah’s residence at high security Gupkar road in Srinagar, which was venue of the meeting, were closed.
