A complete shutdown was observed on Sunday in the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian in south Kashmir against the killing of five militants and a civilian on May16.
All the shops and other business establishments remained closed while public transport off on the roads in both the districts.
Three Jash-i-Mohammad militants including the outfit’s top most commander in South Kashmir, Khalid bhi, were killed in a gunfight with forces.Naseer Pandith was second militant killed in the encounter. Naseer Pandth had joined militant ranks in oct last year.
The Pulwama and Shopian townships wore a deserted look as traffic was off the roads.
According to thin private vehicles were plying on the roads.
Earlier, in the day people took to streets after announcements were made over the public address system of the mosques to raise slogans in favour of the slain militants.
People from Lathpora, Pampore and other parts of Pulwama visited the house of militant who was killed yesterday encounter in north Kashmirs Sopore area.
