JAMMU, May 01: Saraswati Club won the Tug of War titlebeating Niharika Club in the final in the three-day SMVDSB Gurukul Sports meetthat came to an end with the holding of valedictory function at Sports Stadium,Katra  in district Reasi today.

In all, 150 inmates of the Gurukul (6th to 12th classes) tookactive part in the events of Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Tug of War.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SMVDSB, Simrandeep Singhwas the chief guest. He congratulated the winners, runners up teams for winning trophies and medals and complimented all participants for their healthyparticipation and exemplary discipline exhibited by them during the tournament.He said that the sports meet shall be made a regular feature of Gurukul.

Simrandeep Singh presented trophies and medals to thewinning teams and individuals for their achievement. He later declared thetournament closed.

Earlier, Director Sports, SMVDSB, Ashok Kumar gave abrief account of the first ever event. He also presented report of varioussports events to be covered in future by the Shrine Board as per the annual sports calendar of activities.

Deputy CEO and Administrator, Gurukul, Dr. Arvind Karwanipresented vote of thanks. He thanked Director Sports and his team forcoordination and conducting events in a successful manner.  

Among those present were Rakesh Wazir (president HotelsAssociation Katra), Vivek Kaser  (vice presidentHotels Association Katra) and  staff of SMVDSBand Gurukul.
