The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance won the floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly on Saturday.

Altogether 169 MLAs vote in favour of the motion of confidence, pro tem Speaker Dilip Walse Patil informed the House.

Four MLAs abstained, he said.

Nobody voted against the motion as all the 105 MLAs hadwalked out of the 288-member House, boycotting the floor test, before headcount of MLAs began.

In the October 21 Assembly elections, the BJP emerged as thesingle largest party winning 105 seats. The Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress won 56,54 and 44 seats respectively in the October 21 polls.

The opposition party alleged that it would take up the issuewith Governor B S Koshyari.

The BJP also objected to replacing party's Kalidas Kolambkaras the pro tem speaker with NCP's Dilip Walse Patil, saying that such a thinghappened for the first time in the history of India as the ShivSena-NCP-Congress alliance scared of losing floor test under a regular Speaker.

A special session of the Legislative Assembly was held onSaturday. However, the BJP MLAs walked out of House after Walse Patil orderedhead count on motion of confidence.

"Business is being transacted in the House in violationof the Constitution. The session itself is not in line with the rules.

Since the national anthem had been played after the lastsession, it had ended sine die," BJP's legislature unit leader DevendraFadnavis told reporters.

"Summons was required to be issued through Governor toconvene a new session. But that was not to be the case," he alleged.Fadnavis also charged that the oath-taking ceremony of Thackeray and his sixministers, too, was not in line with the rules.

"Someone took Balasaheb Thackeray's name, someone tooknames of (Congress chief) Sonia (Gandhi) ji and (NCP president Sharad) PawarSaheb's name. The oath has to be taken as mentioned in the pro forma," headded.

On the floor test being conducted on the pro tem Speaker'swatch, Fadnavis said it was done so as the government is scared of losing thetrust vote under a regular speaker.

"They were afraid that their government will collapseif regular Speaker is there... That is why we staged a walk out. We are goingto write to the Governor saying the business was not transacted in line withthe Constitution," he added.

In the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, the BJP is thesingle-largest party with 105 MLAs, followed by the Shiv Sena (56 MLAs), theNCP (54 MLAs) and the Congress (44 MLAs).
