Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said unexpected removal of last Governor of the state and Ist Lt Governor(LG) of the Union Territory (UT) was a strange coincidence.

 

Taking to micro blogging site Twitter the vice president of the National Conference (NC) Omar said “ In a strange coincidence both the last Governor of J&K state & the 1st Lt Governor of the Union Territory of J&K have been removed when they least expected it. They both had a full schedule of meetings planned when they got the order to pack & leave rather unceremoniously”.

 

In another tweet Omar said, “Last night there were one or two names that people were circulating as a done deal & this name wasn’t among them. You can always trust this government to pull an unexpected name out of the hat contrary to anything the sources had planted earlier.”

 

First LG of UT of J&K Girish Chandra Murmu in a surprise move resigned on Wednesday, when he was scheduled to meet media persons from New Delhi and other appointments. However, all his appointments were cancelled after the new development.

 

Later, senior BJP leader Manoj Sinha was appointed new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir after President Kovind accepted the resignation of Murmu.

 

Earlier, Governor of the state Satya Pal Malik, who was appointed on August 23,2018 was removed on October 30, 2019 when he too have appointments which were later cancelled.
