Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-JAMMU today virtually launched Dakshyani turmeric project in the presence of Dr. Jag Paul Sharma, Director Research, Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman Kisan Gurukul and Sh. Sanjeev Kumar, President Sahara Jagrati Manch. The project is conceived by Kisan Gurukul (KG) and Sahara Jagarati Manch (SJM) under the technical guidance of SKUAST-JAMMU.
It is worth to mention that, under the project, 100 tonnes of Rajindera seed of turmeric will be distributed free of cost to more than 25000 farm women. The project is aimed at strengthening of socio-economic status of farm women in Jammu region. Besides, production of quality organic turmeric, seed will also be ensured for marketing to other areas. The technical support will be provided by SKUAST-JAMMU to grow turmeric using techniques involved in soil less farming.

On the occasion, Sh. Dhaliwal expressed gratitude and convey thanks to Hon'ble Vice Chancellor for launching the project and boosting the morale of farm women in adopting new technologies for their socio-economic upliftment. The programme was also attended by Sh. Baldev, Fresh Lives, Jimi and Varinder Pal, Uttar Pradesh Chief, Dakshyani Project.
