Twelve more coronavirus deaths -- one from Jammu and 11 from Kashmir valley -- were reported during the past 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the toll in the UT to 333

As many as 489 new cases were reported from J&K and 483 patients recovered and discharged from across the UT.

Among 489 new positive cases, 79 were the travellers and remaining others. 355 were reported from Kashmir and 134 from Jammu, thus taking total corona count in J&K to 18,879.

Moreover, they said, 483 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals—46 from Jammu and 437 from Kashmir division.

With 12 more deaths during the last 24 hours, including a 25-year-old man from Ramban district of Jammu province, COVID-19 toll in J&K reached 333.


Reports said a 25-year-old youth from Ramban district was tested positive on July 15.

He was admitted in the isolation ward of Government Medical College Hospital Jammu on July 21.

The youth was put on oxygen support on July 27 and died early Tuesday morning. The youth’s death was the first fatality due to the virus in Ramban district.

During the last one week, Ramban district has recorded a surge in positive cases. Till Tuesday evening, there were 525 positive cases in the district. Some remotest areas of this district have emerged as hotspots.

Srinagar district has reported the highest number deaths (98) in the UT followed by Baramulla 64, Kulgam 27, Budgam 24 and Anantnag 21.

In Jammu province, Jammu district topped with 15 deaths, followed by two deaths each in Rajouri and Doda districts.

In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 4,273 cases followed by Baramulla with 1,815, Kulgam 1,475, Shopian 1,412, Anantnag 1,233, Pulwama 1,296, Kupwara 1,066, Budgam 1,183, Bandipora 675, and Ganderbal 384.

In Jammu division, Jammu district has 940 cases, Rajouri 600, Ramban 525, Kathua 494, Udhampur 417, Samba 392, Doda 259, Poonch 192, Reasi 119, and Kishtwar 129.

With the new cases, the tally overall has risen to 18,897—14,812 in Kashmir and 4,067 in Jammu.
