On his Olympic debut, India's Bajrang Punia on Saturday claimed the bronze medal after defeating Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan 8-0 in the men's freestyle 65kg final. 

Bajrang was earlier outwitter by Rio Olympics bronze-winner Haji Aliev of Azerbaijan in the men's freestyle 65kg semifinal on Friday. 
Bajrang won India's sixth medal at the Tokyo Olympics and second in wrestling after Ravi Dahiya, who had claimed the silver after losing in the men's freestyle 57kg title clash 4-7 to reigning world champion Zavur Uguev.
India now have six medals in wrestling at the Olympics. 
KD Jadhav had become India's first wrestler and also the first individual Olympic medallist when he won a bronze during the 1952 Helsinki Games.

After that, Sushil Kumar enhanced wrestling's profile by winning a bronze at 2008 Beijing Games and bettered the colour of the medal by claiming a historic silver in 2012 at London Olympics that made him India's only athlete with two individual Olympic medals for nine years.
With six medals, India have now equalled their best ever result at a single Olympics. The nation had collected six medals at the 2012 London Games.
