
Thirty-eight personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been selected for the Medal for Gallantry (GM) on the occasion of Independence Day 2026, according to the official list of awardees.
The list, issued for the Independence Day 2026 honours, includes 38 Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, with several officers and personnel receiving the gallantry medal for their distinguished acts of bravery.
Among the J&K awardees, Rayeesh Ahmad Reshi, Head Constable, has been awarded the Gallantry Medal for the first time, while Sarfaraz Bashir, Deputy Superintendent of Police, has been awarded the second bar to the Gallantry Medal.
Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, SgCT, and Mohinder Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector, have also been awarded the first bar to the Gallantry Medal. The list further includes officers and personnel from the ranks of Deputy Inspector General, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, Inspector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Head Constable, SgCT and Constable.
The J&K awardees include Shiv Kumar, IPS; Shobhit D. Saksena, IPS; Nasir Ahmad; Kalu Din; Adit Kumar Nad; Divya D, IPS; Mohd Usman; Shabir Ahmad Malik; Manzoor Ahmad Ganie; Khurshid Ahmed Wani; Mushtaq Ahmad Shah; Ab. Rashid Mir; Mushtaq Ahmad; Mohamad Shafi Banday; Abdul Rashid; Zahoor Ahmad; Pande Rajiv Omprakash, IPS; Dheeraj Kumar; Shakir Hassan; Vikram Nag; Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Tariq Ahmad, among others.
The official document lists a total of 272 Gallantry Medals in the Police Service category, covering personnel from various States and Central Armed Police Forces. The J&K Police entries appear at serial numbers 151 to 188.
Besides the Police Service awards, the document also lists 29 Fire Service personnel from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for the Gallantry Medal, taking the total number of Gallantry Medal awardees in the document to 301.
The honours are being announced in recognition of acts of gallantry and exceptional courage on the occasion of Independence Day 2026.
