Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat has accorded prior approval for the attachment of properties allegedly belonging to two terrorists who, according to the police record, are presently operating from Pakistan.
The action has been taken under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with FIR No. 276/2022 registered at Police Station Kupwara.
As per the official document, the properties identified for attachment comprise 15 kanals and 7 marlas of land and two residential houses located at Kachama in Kupwara.
The properties are registered in the names of Ab Majid Qureshi, son of Ab Rouf Qureshi, and Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi, son of Mohd Mustafa Qureshi, both residents of Kachama, Kupwara.
The document states that the properties fall within the ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” under Section 2(1)(g)(ii) of the UAPA and are liable for attachment in connection with the case.
The property details include 10 kanals and 7 marlas of land and a three-storeyed residential house associated with Ab Majid Qureshi, while 5 kanals of land and a single-storeyed residential house are listed in connection with Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi.
The approval cites several provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and UAPA, including Sections 120-B, 121, 121-A, 122 and 123 IPC and Sections 17, 18, 18-A, 18-B, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of the UAPA.
The directions have been issued to the DSP DAR Kupwara, with copies marked to senior police and intelligence officials, including ADG CID, IG Kashmir Zone, AIG CT/INT and SSP Kupwara.
The move comes as part of legal proceedings concerning properties allegedly connected with terrorism-related activities in the Kupwara district.(KNC)
