More than 30 passengers were injured after a Volvo bus travelling from Srinagar to Jammu overturned near Ramban town in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said.According to police, the bus, bearing a West Bengal registration number, was enroute to Jammu when the driver reportedly lost control near Ramban, causing the vehicle to turn turtle.
Police personnel, local residents and paramilitary troops rushed to the spot and helped evacuate the injured. They were subsequently shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment.
"In total 33 passengers were injured out of which nine were referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu," they said.
However, union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in a post on X said, "Spoke to DC Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, after learning about the road accident involving a passenger bus bearing West Bengal registration number."
"30 passengers were injured, of whom seven have been referred to GMC Jammu, while others are being treated locally," he posted, further adding that none of them has sustained serious injuries."All possible assistance and medical aid being provided," Dr Singh said in a post.
