MUMBAI:Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's father has filed a police complaint against his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, also an actor, over a month after he was found dead in his Mumbai apartment.
Sushant Singh Rajput's family, who live in Patna, have accused her of a betment to suicide,alleging that she cheated him financially and mentally harassed him.
The First Information Report (FIR) also names six others including her family members. A four-member team of Patna Police has already left for Mumbai to probe the case.
This is the first time the family have gone public with their accusations and sources close to them say they deliberated whether to wait for the investigation by Mumbai Police.
The 34-year-oldactor had died by suicide last month, the police had said, reigniting a huge debate about mental health.
Earlier this month,Rhea Chakraborty, had called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, tagging Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a post on Instagram.
Ms Chakraborty who has disclosed that she has been receiving rape and murder threats on social media over the actor's death, said that she "only wanted to understandwhat prompted him to take the step".
In a lengthy post before that, the 28-year-old actor opened up about the bond she shared with him saying, "Still struggling to face my emotions... an irreparable numbness in my heart... You are the one who made me believe in love."
Widely acclaimed asa promising young actor, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra on June 14.The Maharashtra government has ordered an investigation into allegations of professional rivalry along with his reported clinical depression.
Around 40 people have recorded their statements so far in the case, including director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, filmmaker Aditya Chopra, director Mukesh Chhabra,filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor, film critic Rajeev Mas and among others.
The actor's deathhas also made waves in political circles with Lok Janshakti Party chief ChiragPaswan writing to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, saying "On behalf of every Bihari, I urge you to conduct a fair inquiry into the matter sothat no talented person is victimised in future due to factionalism andnepotism in Bollywood."
On Monday, MaharashtraDeputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's son Parth Pawar also wrote to the state HomeMinister, demanding a CBI probe.
Sushant Singh Rajputmade his Bollywood debut in 2013 with the movie - "Kai Po Che". Hewas appreciated for his performance in 2015 movie "Detective ByomkeshBakshy!", "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story", "Sonchiriya"and "Chhichhore".
His death led to adeluge of tribute and recriminations on social media involving the Hindi filmindustry, which has been battling allegations of nepotism and cliques.
