Seeking justice for the Hathras rape and murder victim victim,  a battalion of Mahila Panthers activists spearheaded by Mrs. Manju Singh Gen Secy JKNPP and other women leaders staged a vociferous protest demonstration in Jammu today. The infuriated protesters raised the slogans of “ Hathras kand ke balatkariyon ko Fansi do, Fansi do”, “ BJP Sarkar Murdabad”, “Bhartiya Nari ka Apman, nahin Sahega Hindustan”, “Modi ,Yogi  istifa do”, etc. to express the raging fury of the womenfolk all across the country.
Addressing the media, Mrs. Manju Singh said that the bizarre Hathras rape incident had not only put a blot on our society but also exposed the ground reality of the anarchical regime running in the country. “The ordeal and trauma faced by the innocent dalit girl of Hathras bears the testimony that our social system still needed thorough overhauling in terms of women empowerment, prejudice against fair sex and most importantly, a responsible policing. There was an attempt to cover up the whole incident and the girl was not given a proper treatment when her mortal remains were consigned to flames in the wee hours of night and that too without the wishes of her family. Is it a crime to be a girl? Is it a crime to be born in a patriarchal and caste based society? Are women safe in contemporary and so called ‘New India’ of BJP ?”, asked Manju.

Mrs. Manju Singh said that Hathras episode symbolized barbarism and bestial psyche of the criminals at its worst. “With ever increasing cases of rapes, murders, kidnappings, etc, the law and order situation in the country had fast crumbled under the BJP rule. Not only the present episode of gang rape and murder but similar cases of rapes and murders had occurred in Balrampur, Azamgarh, Buland Sheher, Laskshmipur and Kheri districts of UP in last few weeks only. A feeling of insecurity had haunted the womenfolk all across the nation in view of steep rise in cases of such heinous offences against women. The Saffron slogan of “ Beti Bachao, Beti Padao” sold with a big splash and fanfare had proved a farce. We demand resignations of both Modi ji and Yogi ji in view of the prevalent lawlessness in the country and UP in particular. Women are surely not safe under BJP rule”, regretted Manju.

Strongly condemning the Hathras episode, Mrs. Anita Choudhary State Secy Mahila Panthers  urged upon the intelligentsia and civil society to raise its voice against ever growing crime especially against women. She stressed for a secured environment for fair sex and a robust system which could provide justice to the womenfolk who were facing harassment, humiliation or other kind of atrocities at the hands of anti-social elements or criminals. She said that crimes against women, poor sections, dalits and other marginalized classes would be fought tooth and nail by the Panthers Party.

Prominent among Mahila leaders who participated in the protest included Anita Choudhary, Ranbir Kour, Yogita, Radha Manhas, Geeta, Seema, Rimpy, Radhika, Shallu, Sanjana, Kajal, Reena besides others.
