Amit Sharma, Camp Director, Nunwan Base Camp for Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 2019 today kick-started an aggressive Swachhta Abhiyan(Cleanliness Campaign) at Base Camp here, leading from the front which shall last over next few days. This campaign has been started to ensure totalsanitization-cum-cleanliness within and peripheral areas of this all-important Shri Amarnathji Yatra Base Camp located at Pahalgam from where Yatries move towards traditional route of Yatra including Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panjtarni upto Holy Cave as next enroute Camps. He was accompanied with Additional Camp Director Kulraj Singh and Deputy General Manager Works (SASB)Pardeep Sharma and a team of enthusiastic workers and volunteers during this Total Cleanliness Campaign held at Pahalgam.
Amit started the Cleanliness Drive-cum-Campaign with an awareness talk with the workers and the whole team. He mentioned that Cleanliness is a way of life and even the remarkable success of Swachh BharatAbhiyan in entire nation is a glaring example of same, which has almost led tozero-tolerance amongst general public towards non-cleanliness and pollution.Before beginning the campaign, the team lead by Camp Director identified the most challenging stretches of Nunwan Base Camp where more focus and attention of Cleanliness Campaign was required and accordingly, they created the teams tocarry-on drives in different zones identified for the specific cleanlinesstasks within the Base Camp.Camp Director Amit Sharma led this Campaign from the front alongwith his colleagues and took the broom in his hands to become active bhaagidar in this Total Cleanliness Drive within Nunwan Base Camp. They targeted specific patches in the Base Camps such as lanes within the tent agearea, bathing & toilet areas, Langar-cum-Bhandara areas, Entry and ExitGates, etc. On the same pattern, during early part of the day, a similar Cleanliness Campaign was conducted in Helipad area of Pahalgam in the presence of Additional Camp Director Vikas Anand and this clean-up mission was first conducted and completed there before initiation of this Campaign at Nunwan BaseCamp.
When enquired from the Yatries which were present inside theNunwan Base Camp, they expressed lot of satisfaction over the standards of cleanliness which are being maintainedinside this Base Camp and rated this Base Camps amongst one of the most cleanBase Camps for religious yatras in the nation. They complimented Camp Director Amit Sharma and his team for taking this lead in organising Total CleanlinessCampaign at Nunwan Base Camp. it was informed that this Campaign shall continueand last over next four to five days till the whole Base Camp and itsperipheral areas are fully cleaned-up and sanitized. Also to mention, NunwanBase Camp has a fully functional Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) to treat solidwaste through multiple levels which ensures that ecological balance ofworld-famous tourism spot Pahalgam is not disturbed due to ongoing heavy rush ofYatra.
