The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today reviewed the Covid19 pandemic situation in J&K through online medium during interaction with Shri Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Union Health Ministry; Senior officials from the UT of J&K in presence of Central team of Senior Health Officials.The central team comprising of Shri S.K. Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); and Shri Vijay Hadda, Professor, Dept. of Pulmonary Critical Care, AIIMS, Delhi put forward their detailed observations which were duly noted and attended by the members present.
While reviewing the situation on ground, Dr Jitendra Singh assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the rising cases of COVID-19 in the UT would be tackled effectively through effective hospital management and containment strategy .Speaking after a review meeting of COVID-19 pandemic situation in J&K on the occasion of visit of a Central Team, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that issues like shortages of oxygen cylinders, medical staff in hospitals would be resolved at the earliest.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed gratitude to the Union Ministries of Health and Home Affairs for sending a Central Medical Team at a short notice led by Dr. Sudhir Kumar Singh to assess the ground situation in Jammu and adjoining districts. The Central Team will remain in touch with the Medics in Jammu Division for continuous support and guidance on daily basis, apart from the Tele Consultation with AIIMS twice a week, till the pandemic situation improves, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh further said there is a need to build reassurance in the public by strengthening Hospital preparedness , Hospital Management and inter personnel coordination. While pointing out primary issues like ; effective management of logistical supplies of oxygen cylinders ; strict adherence to the SOPs to be followed by health officials and enhancing the number of health officials to handle the pandemic effectively.
Dr Jitendra Singh reassured that daily developments and issues will continued to be taken up by the Health Ministry Officials now onwards. The Union Minister also advised the Heath Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo to call regular meetings with Civil Society, Eminent Persons and Religious Leaders for educating the common man about the pandemic and for taking preventive measures attached to them
While reviewing availability of medical oxygen, testing and clinical management , Dr Singh said that strict implementation of SOPs will reduce the number of cases . He said that effective disposal of PPE Kits, effective clinical management by segregation of Covid 19 and non Covid cases etc will lead to improvement.
Dr Jitendra Singh further said that rumours need to be arrested and daily reporting of the statistics with the Central Health teams shall lead to effective management and reassurance amongst the people . Regular dialogues and coordination amongst multiple stake holders in the pandemic management especially in panic affected area and focus on containment, active cases and hospital management will lead to drastic improvement.
Shri Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Union Health Ministry who also attended the session , put forward his findings about recovery rate, fatality rate and SOPs.He said AIIMS Delhi has facility of Tele-consultation to the health personnel and team of Doctors to manage the Covid-19 pandemic.
The online review meeting was also attended by Senior officials from Union Health Ministry, Officers from UT of J&K and various health officials.
