Welcoming the High Court decision declaring Roshni Act unconstitutional and order Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz on Monday said government had transferred 20 lakh land to undeserved vested interest almost free of charges
He said the judgement delivered by Chief Justice of J&K HC Justice Geeta Mital and Justice Rajesh Bindal was a landmark judgement by turning down the Roshi Act as unconstitutional and illegal under which government had transferred 20 lakh Kanals land of Govt. land valued at Rs. 25000 crores to underserved vested interests, almost  free of charges.
“I had raised a strong voice against this deal which has now been declared illegal and unconstitutional”, Prof Soz said in a statement this afternoon.
He said “once the then Minister of Revenue had assured me that my plea would be accepted, but, alas, vested interests have been so strong as to grab the said land, with official patronage. Now, the ‘long hands’ who had maneuvered the allotment of land illegally and unconstitutionally, must come forward to tender an apology to the people of the state”.
He also congratulated Advocate Ankur Sharma of Jammu for having made a plea to the court that thousands of kanals of land had been allotted to underserved people enjoying support of the vested interests.
